Mokṣārth Yoga“ (मोक्षार्थ योग) is a Sanskrit phrase made up of two words:

  • Mokṣa (मोक्ष) → liberation, spiritual freedom, release from the cycle of birth and death (saṃsāra).

  • Artha (अर्थ) → purpose, aim, or meaning.

  • Yoga (योग) → union, discipline, or spiritual path.

So, Mokṣārth Yoga means „the yoga (path or practice) undertaken with the purpose of attaining mokṣa (liberation)“.

It’s not typically the name of a specific school of yoga (like Hatha Yoga or Raja Yoga), but rather a description of intent—any yogic discipline (karma, bhakti, jñāna, rāja yoga, etc.) when practiced with the aim of liberation can be called Mokṣārth Yoga.
